Configure protection types separately
Link protection, blocked words, uppercase, emoji and symbol protections use different thresholds. Use normal messages from your community as examples when configuring rules. Very low thresholds may also catch legitimate messages. Enabling one rule does not automatically enable the other protections.
Understand delete, timeout and ban
Delete removes the relevant message. A timeout restricts a user’s chat access for a specified period, while a ban is a longer-lasting restriction. Timeout and ban access depends on the advanced moderation entitlement. Check the duration of timed actions and verify the rule using a test account.
Check role exemptions
If you exempt broadcasters, moderators or subscribers, messages from that role are excluded from the relevant rule. This can make a rule appear broken when you test it from your broadcaster account. Test with the role you expect to moderate, or adjust the exemption for that role.
Verify the result in the activity feed
Check the activity feed after a moderation test. Message deletion, timeout and ban are different actions; the reason and duration, when present, help explain what happened. A rule matching a message does not guarantee that the action succeeds if the bot lacks the required channel permissions.
